Northwest Missouri State is looking for an assistant professor/instructor of mass media with experience in sports and broadcasting. The basics are:
PRIMARY DUTY: A nine-month teaching position responsible for providing instruction within the School of Communication & Mass Media. The successful candidate will exhibit the ability to use software relevant to the discipline. The new faculty member will engage in a practical, profession-based program of teaching. We are seeking an individual who will become an integral and creative member of a diversified and active mass media faculty.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach introductory and advanced journalism courses and introductory and advanced courses in sports media.
- Facilitate media development from conceptual design through content delivery.
- Advise student organizations dealing with journalism and sports media.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree in a related field
Certification/License: Missouri driver’s license
Skills: Ability to use and instruct students on current journalistic techniques and writing standards
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Ph.D. in journalism/mass media or a related field
Experience: Professional journalism experience with a regional publication (ex., newspaper, magazine, web site); evidence of positive teaching experiences; evidence of video journalism (with interest in sports)
